Who We Are
The Jenks Coalition for Smart Growth is a grassroots movement, made up entirely of volunteers, who supports responsible growth in the City of Jenks. The organization formed after two yellow public hearing signs went up around the intersection of 106th & Peoria/Elm for proposed regional commercial developments. The JCSG's focus originated in an effort to prevent the proposed developments, which did not align with the needs and desires of the local community; and contradictory to the Horizon Jenks Comprehensive Master Plan.
We Stand For:
ALERT citizens with resourceful information
ADVOCATE for curated, mindful - smart growth
AFFECT change through community efforts
ASSERT ACTION when necessary
ADVANCE quality of life for citizens through civil discourse
ACCOUNTABILITY for ourselves and our government
Our Name
The Jenks Coalition for Smart Growth was not the initial choice for the group's name. However, it was decided that the name would represent the idea of neighbors and citizens coming together to address the lack of information provided to the citizens of Jenks regarding the city's strategic goals and development plans. A "coalescing" of dialogue. The JCSG is a grassroots effort aiming to push for responsible and transparent development. The JCSG is rallying for Jenks to retain its small town character and for the community to recognize Jenks vibe in the future. The use of "smart" reflects this vision.
